Dr. William Martin
Central Vet Family Member since January 1981.
Dr. William “Bill” Martin was raised in Hendersonville, TN. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1978 with a B.S. in Animal Science. He graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He worked as a veterinary assistant at Central Veterinary Hospital before becoming a veterinarian. He loves his job and has a life long commitment to veterinary medicine. He enjoys building long lasting relationships with his patients and clients. In his spare time he enjoys bicycle riding, swimming, and working out at the Rush. He has one cat, Tabitha, at the moment, but has a soft spot for Corgis.
Dr. Benny Ferrell
Central Vet Family Member since July 1995.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Ferrell attended the University of Memphis before moving to Knoxville where he graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Animal Science in 1981. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Dr. Ferrell practiced small animal medicine from 1984 until he came to Central Veterinary Hospital in 1995. In addition to general veterinary care, Dr. Ferrell is also a skilled surgeon and trained in ultrasound examination and evaluation techniques. Dr. Ferrell loves connecting with his patients. In his spare time he enjoys gardening and the outdoors. He enjoys spending time with his family; his wife Patty, his daughter Emily and son Ben.
Dr. Jamie Clanin
Central Vet Family Member since August 2011.
Dr. Jamie Clanin was born in California and later raised in Washington, D.C. She received a BS in Animal Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University in 2004. She then moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, earning her DVM in 2008. Dr. Clanin came to Central Veterinary Hospital in the summer of 2011 after practicing small animal medicine in the Knoxville area. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her young son. She loves practicing in this area and meeting all kinds of creatures, especially German Shepherds. Dr. Clanin is thrilled to be a part of the Central Vet team!
Dr. Wesley Keele
Central Vet Family Member since June 2012.
Dr. Wesley Keele grew up on a dairy farm in Manchester, TN. He moved to Knoxville in 2004 to attend the University of Tennessee. Dr. Keele started working at Central Vet in June of 2012. So far he has really enjoyed establishing his own client and patient base with the hospital. He has been happily married since April of 2012 to his wife Margaret, who is a physical therapist with Covenant Health. Margaret gave birth to their twins, Ellie and Jackson, in January of 2016. They also have four little “fur” kids as well, Izzy, Max, Mouse and Wally.
Dr. Dustin Patterson
Central Vet Family Member since June 2015 .
Born in West Tennessee, Dr. Patterson attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Animal Science. He then graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Patterson practiced at a mixed animal practice in Dickson, TN for five years before coming to Central in 2015. Dr. Patterson enjoys UT sports, being out on area lakes, and all the wonderful outdoor activities East Tennessee has to offer. He now resides in Powell, TN with his wife, Rachel and his two children; his daughter, Lila and their cat, Crosby.
Dr. Andy Shoultz
Central Vet Family Member since July 2018.
Dr. Shoultz is originally from Southern Indiana. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. He spent his last year of internship at a veterinarian in Louisville, KY. Dr. Shoultz and his wife have two pets; a hound mix named Rosalind and a cat named Tripp. In his spare time he enjoys St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, trail running, biking around Knoxville, and spending time with is wife
Madeleine Womble – Hospital Manager
Central Vet Family Member since January 1999.
Madeleine was born in Quebec, Canada and moved to the United States in 1981. She worked in home healthcare for several years before coming to Central Veterinary Hospital in January of 1999. Madeleine has been married to her husband, Jeff, for 29 years and is the proud mother of three children, Jessica, Ian, and Sierra. She is also the proud grandmother of two, Keira and Caspian. They currently have three dogs, Waffle, who was adopted from our clinic, and Bandite, a Jack Russell puppy born at the clinic, and Mocha, who was an owner surrender at our hospital. She spends her free time enjoying the shared interests of her family including the outdoors, sports, music, art, and church.
Kelly – Client Relation Specialist Supervisor
Central Vet Family Member since August 2008.
Kelly was born in Burlington, Vermont. She moved to Polk County, Tennessee in 1993, and to Knoxville in 2003 to attend the University of Tennessee. She had a variety of different jobs before settling in at Central. Kelly loves working with the clients and patients at Central. She currently lives in North Knoxville with her husband, Buster and his daughter, Kaylee. They have four furry kids: Nuke and Loretta the dogs, and Waylon and Willie the cats. In her spare time she loves the outdoors, music (her husband manages a country band), cooking, spending quality time with family and friends, and living life to the fullest.
Jessi – Client Relations Specialist
Central Vet Family Member since October 2004 .
Jessi is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. She started working at Central Vet while attending classes at Pellissippi, and considers this her second family. She loves the patients and clients at Central Vet, and couldn’t imagine a job where she didn’t work with animals. She has several rescued “furry kids” and loves spending time with all of them. She enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, going to the park, gardening, and pet sitting.
Heather – Client Relations Specialist
Central Vet Family Member since April 2008.
Heather is originally from Louisiana and moved to Sevierville, TN when she was in elementary school. Heather lives in Knoxville with her daughter Arley and their cat, Ariel Kitty. In her free time, she enjoys football (especially UT and the Saints), working out, kayaking, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.
Rachel – Client Relations Specialist

Rachel grew up in Toledo, Ohio, where she enjoyed competitive dance. She spent time at Ohio State University, where her focus of study was Criminology. She relocated to Knoxville where she now lives with her cat, Journey, and her two dogs, Luna and Hildie.
Amanda – Client Relations Specialist
Central Vet Family Member since March 2018.
Amanda and her husband relocated to Knoxville from Dallas, Texas 2 1/2 years ago. She has enjoyed working in the veterinary field for many years as a doctor’s assistant and a receptionist. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, fishing, and camping with her husband. Amanda is the proud mom to Cassidy the Doberman and Philly the German Shepard. She also has two rescue donkeys named Puppy and Banjo.
Abby – Client Relations Specialist
Central Vet Family member since May 2018.
Abby is originally from Gray, TN. She moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee. She is planning on majoring in animal science and eventually going to vet school. She has a Great Dane puppy named Olive, and a cat named Hemingway.
Christen – LVMT
Central Vet Family Member since August 2017
Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Christen got her start working with animals by volunteering with local rescue groups in the area. She graduated as an LVMT from Lincoln Memorial University. Christen enjoys spending time with her fur babies Clyde (dog), Bailey Elizabeth, Tyson Cage, Samantha, and Mary Kate (cats). In her spare time, she enjoys exploring Knoxville and the surrounding areas, checking out new restaurants, traveling, hanging out with friends and family, outdoor activities– including hiking, kayaking, biking, ect.
Irene – Certified Veterinary Assistant
Central Vet Family Member since October 2009.
Irene was raised in Northern Illinois, and moved to Tennessee in 2007 to attend college. From the time she was a little girl, she knew she wanted to work with animals. She came to CVH while working on her Bachelor’s Degree from UT, and is currently taking classes to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, and her furry kids. She has three dogs (Lily, Kirra, and Sprocket) and three cats (Tigger, Fluffer-Nutter, and Gambit).
Mercedes – Veterinary Assistant

Mercedes was originally born in St. Petersburg, Florida. She started out working as an after school volunteer in 2009 and was officially hired in November 2010. She has attended Pellissippi State Technical Community College. She loves working with animals, and has spent time at an animal sanctuary in Costa Rica. She has three cats, Cappuccino, Maple, and Milo. In her free time she enjoys reading, watching TV, and being with family.
Heather – Veterinary Assistant

Heather is originally from Detroit, Michigan. She currently lives in Knoxville, TN. She enjoys spending her free time with her furry kids at the park. She has three dogs, Crowley, Chewy, Willow and three cats, Smokey, Rusty, and Sammy.
Ambriell – Veterinary Assistant

Ambriell is originally from Texas, but grew up in Clarksville, TN. She moved to Knoxville to attend UTK where she graduated in 2016. She has three pets who she loves dearly; a dog named Apollo, a cat named Oliver, and a ferret named Stuie. In her free time she enjoys sketching, cooking, working out, reading, and trying new things.
Carrie Silver – Veterinary Assistant
Central Vet Family Member since June 2018.
Carrie was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She moved to Tennessee in 2005 as a slinger mom. Her daughter Haley is attending East TN State University and her son Tommy is attending Maryville College. She is super pround of both of her children and loves spending time with them as possible. She has worked in animal hospitals since the age of 16 and can’t think of doing else. She has a Jack Russell named Diamond who is her best buddy. In her spare time she loves taking care of her hummingbirds, gardening, swimming, hanging out on the boat, and being a member of the American Poll Players Association.
